Part 2 of my shoot with the very talented @thegloriousend was time well spent hanging around littered party venues and under highway bridges. Funny the title of this post is Clean Simplicity. But in a flashy, trashy world, we occasionally need simple.
Now I don't mean plain, boring, no personality simple. I'm talking about the kind that has strategy. Your outfit can still deliver a punch when it's dressed down. As a beginner in styling, it's not as I-Just-Threw-This-On as it initially seems. However, with time, it becomes second nature. After all, for a carefully crafted look, it takes practice, personality and thought.
The key is to pick clean lines for your outfit. This straight LBD is a great example. I originally had it paired with a bomber because I was never one to wear something like this without giving it a little extra. But Stephen pointed out how some things are better left alone in their simplicity. And it worked! You can choose smaller details, afterwards, to have fun with. I picked a patterned, thrifted scarf and some bold rings. The choker is actually a long necklace I was about to get rid of before I realized I can transform it into one of my favorite trends (I wanted to keep the neckline simple too, as it is easy to drift from simple with what's around your neck). Feel free to go with a cool bag or statement shoes as another idea. BTW, keep in mind that these are all just suggestions of my interpretation of Clean Simplicity. Do you, boo.
